Today I heard that my university had gained a new principal.
Nothing too unusual about that you might say; I've seen three come and go since I've been with the university.
Except that there is.
Because this principal is Irish (I'm proudly half-Irish), has spent a number of years in my own hometown of Hull, is a keen photographer (like me), likes a cycle (like me) and is a Mac man and keenly interested in technology (also like me). Obviously he has many other qualities, talents and interests that make him eminently suitable for his new job; but I really like these aspects of his character and can't wait 'til he starts.
Anyone would think I employed him specifically for my own benefit.
Maybe I did…
Anyway, he also writes a blog and in just one day he has inspired me to start one as well (I've thought about beginning one for some time).
The hardest words are the first 100. I'm now out of the stocks.
